Our Terms and Conditions
Our Terms and Conditions set out how you can use this website and what you can expect from Concrete Accounts Ltd before anything is signed. The bookkeeping, VAT, CIS, payroll and year end work itself runs under a separate engagement letter agreed with you when you join. Where the two differ, the engagement letter is the one that counts.

What this page covers
This page is published by Concrete Accounts Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 14822426 and trading as Concrete Accounts. It governs your use of this website, any enquiry you send through the quiz or the contact page, and the conversations we have with you before you become a client. It is not the contract for your accounting work. If you go on to join us, the services we provide, the scope of them and the fee are set out in an engagement letter signed by both sides. Please read this page before you use the site or send us information.
How we work with clients
Every client relationship starts with an engagement letter. It names the company we are acting for, lists the work we will do, states the fixed monthly fee, sets out what we need from you and when, and explains how either side can end the arrangement. Nothing on this website creates that relationship on its own, and no quote, guide or page here is a substitute for it. Until the engagement letter is signed and our checks are complete, we are not acting for you. If anything on this page conflicts with your signed engagement letter, the engagement letter takes precedence.
Using this website
A few plain rules about what you can and cannot do with this site.
Permitted use
You are welcome to read the site, print pages and share links for your own business or personal use. You may not copy the pages into another site, scrape the content in bulk, resell it, or pull it apart to rebuild the site or the quiz somewhere else.
User conduct
Do not use this site for anything unlawful, fraudulent or abusive, and do not use it to send false information about another person or business. Do not attempt to break into, overload or disrupt the site, the quiz or the systems behind them, or to introduce anything harmful.
Enquiry and account security
When you fill in the quiz or an enquiry form, send details that are true and your own to share. If we later give you access to accounting software or a portal, keep your login details to yourself and tell us as soon as you think someone else has them.
Relying on what you read here
The guides and service pages here are general information about VAT, CIS, payroll and company tax. They are written to be useful, not to fit your company. Tax rules change and your position may differ, so get advice on your own numbers before you act on anything you read here.
Intellectual property
The text, images, photographs, guides, layout, logo and monogram on this site belong to Concrete Accounts Ltd or are used under licence. You may quote a short passage or share a page if you credit Concrete Accounts and link back to the page you took it from. You may not republish our content commercially, pass it off as your own, or use it to train or populate another service. Our name, logo and the look of this site are not to be used in your own marketing, adverts or materials without our written permission. If you want to use something, email us and ask.
Our professional obligations
Accountancy is a regulated profession and some of our duties are set by law rather than by us. They apply to every client, with no exceptions.
Anti-money laundering checks
Under the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 we have to identify and verify every client and the people who own or control the company before we start work. That usually means photo identification, proof of address and company ownership details, and in some cases further checks. If we cannot complete those checks to our satisfaction, we cannot take you on, and we may have to end an existing engagement.
Record retention
We keep client identification records and the records of the work we have done for at least five years after the engagement ends, as the 2017 Regulations require, and often longer where tax record keeping rules apply. The full retention periods and your data rights are set out in our Privacy Policy.
Suspicious activity reporting
If we know or suspect that money laundering or terrorist financing is involved, we have a legal duty to report it to the National Crime Agency. That duty sits above our duty of confidentiality to you, and we do not need your agreement to make a report. The law also makes it an offence to tip off a client that a report has been made, so we cannot tell you if one has been filed or discuss it with you.
Professional conduct
We work to the ethical standards expected of the UK accountancy profession and to the code of ethics of the relevant UK accountancy professional body. Those standards cover integrity, objectivity, competence, confidentiality and conflicts of interest, and they override anything in these terms or in an engagement letter that is inconsistent with them.
Limitation of liability
This section is about the website only. What we are responsible for on your accounting work is dealt with in your engagement letter, not here.
Liability for the professional services we carry out for a client is set out in that client’s signed engagement letter, including any cap that applies. The paragraphs below deal only with this website, the information published on it and any enquiry sent through it before an engagement exists.
What we never limit
Nothing here limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
Website related liability
This website is provided as it stands. We work to keep it accurate and available, but we do not promise it will always be online, error free or up to date with the latest tax rules, and we may change or withdraw pages. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses arising from acting on general website content alone, without engaging us and getting advice on your own figures.
Professional services liability
Once you are a client, our responsibility for the work we do is governed by your engagement letter, which states the scope of the work and any financial cap on our liability, usually expressed by reference to the fees paid. We hold professional indemnity insurance in line with the requirements of the relevant UK accountancy professional body. If you want the detail before you sign, ask and we will talk it through.
Your responsibilities to us
The work we do rests on the information you give us: the invoices, the bank data, the subcontractor details, the payroll figures and the answers you give when we ask a question. You are responsible for making sure that information is accurate, complete and sent in time, and for telling us about anything that changes it. We check what we can and we will query anything that looks wrong, but we are not able to verify everything. If we suffer a loss, a penalty or a claim because the information supplied to us was inaccurate, incomplete or withheld, you agree to cover us for it.
Ending these terms
You can stop using this website whenever you like, and these terms stop applying to you when you do. We can suspend or withdraw access to the site, or to any form on it, if these terms are broken or if we need to protect the site or other users. Ending your use of the website does not end an engagement letter, which has its own notice provisions. The sections on intellectual property, record retention, our anti-money laundering duties and liability continue to apply afterwards.
Law and jurisdiction
These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of this website, are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any such dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you are dealing with us as a consumer, this does not affect your statutory rights or any protection the law of your home nation gives you.
Complaints
If something has gone wrong, tell us. Put the complaint in writing to Barnaby Byrom at info@concreteaccounts.com, setting out what happened and what you would like us to do about it. We will look into it properly, keep you posted while we do, and write to you with our findings and what we propose. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can take the matter to the relevant UK accountancy professional body, and to any ombudsman or regulator that applies to your situation.
Changes to these terms
Our Terms and Conditions may be updated from time to time as the law or the way we work changes, and the last reviewed date above changes with them. Anything that affects an existing client engagement is dealt with through the engagement letter. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the updated version.
How to contact us
One address for anything legal.
